Dog Licenses and Laws

Dog licenses expire June 30th each year. Licenses may be renewed in the Town Clerks Office or by mail. When renewing by mail a self addressed stamped envelope must be included for return of the license. Proof of spay/neuter certificate and a current rabies certificate must be presented unless a current certficate is on file with the Town Clerk.

All dogs six months and over are required to have a license.

Tag or plate to be attached to dog collar or harness.
Each owner or keeper of a licensed dog shall keep around its neck or body a collar or harness of leather or other suitable material, to which shall be securely attached a tag or plate issued to such person by the town clerk.

No owner or keeper of any dog shall allow such dog to roam at large upon the land of another and not under control of the owner or keeper.

The common source of annoyance and concern is “roaming.”

Other local fauna you may see in Andover…

Bear sightings have been seen in the Andover Lake region. A fox family has taken up residence in back of the Andover Landscaping Gardens on Route 6. The mother fox has been seen out hunting during the day for her three pups. She is reddish gold and quite lovely to look at BUT do not attempt to corner her.

Keep an eye on your pets as she has captured many cats in the area as well as squirrels and woodchucks. Call the Animal Control Officer if you have any questions or problems with these wild animals.
